Is the Twitter and X Era Coming to an End?

 Honestly if someone asked me why X is beneficial these days I really could not give them a solid answer. I do not think X is useless by any means. Brands and companies can use it to market themselves and it is still a common social media platform where anyone can share their thoughts. But I definitely do not think that it is as effective as it used to be as the social media world has evolved and more apps have been created. 

When Twitter was created it was best known for its short-form messaging, real-time updates, hashtag-driven conversations and direct public interaction. But now its name has changed to X and there are so many other apps that provide these features along with many other additional enhancements. I believe that because it has somewhat stayed the same other than the name change is why we have seen it become an app that used to be one of the top-used platforms to not even in the top 10. I will say that the lack of evolvement is definitely not the only reason. There have been plenty of controversies with its new owner Elon Musk. When he bought Twitter in 2022 for $44 billion it immediately began numerous issues. Musk is one to say whatever he believes and is on his mind which typically people do not agree with his statements and decisions. Naturally with the owner of X being this controversial it will lead to users not caring for the app anymore. That element has played into the decline of usage on top of the lack of evolvement. 

As the older generations begin to stop using X it is notable that the newer generations are not even using it to begin with. I personally have an account but never use it. I think the only reason I created an account in the first place was when I was desperately trying to get tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour and I did not want to pay the crazy SeatGeek prices. There were loyal fans on X that were selling extra tickets that could get for face value. But I do not know the last time I have actually used or opened the app other than that period of time which was well over a year ago. I also do not know if any of my friends or people my age even use it. Because we have access to so many other platforms that are more popular such as Snapchat and Instagram that can pretty much do the same thing and many more people are on I personally do not have a purpose for using X. I am not an X hater and think it would be great to see it make a comeback but hopefully with some new features that are new and unique that we have not seen before!

Galentine's Weekend!

 This past Saturday was Valentine's Day but I celebrated Galentine's Day instead. On Friday, Alpha Xi had a Galentine's Day party. This was such a great event where we had card making and a small gift game. There were snacks and little desserts that were delicious. Greek Week 2026

From the very first day of recruitment this past fall everyone I talked to involved in Greek Life mentioned Greek Week. The time has finally come and this entire week every day has an event that each chapter participates in. Then it all leads to the final day on Saturday which is Greek Olympics. On Monday it started off with Greek Sing. This is where each chapter performs a song and dance routine. The sororities go up against each other and the same for fraternities. I was nervous at first because it would be my first time ever performing at Greek Sing and also because our pledge class had our own section to perform and we had only realized the practice before some of the beats for our dance section were hard to hear. This means it would be very difficult to stay on our original timing. Luckily once we got out there we knew we just needed to do our best and have fun. Wrapping up my First Greek Week

My first Greek Week was a whirlwind to say the least. The entire week was full of events. I only participated in two events the entire week starting with Greek Sing at the beginning of the week and then at Greek Olympics on Saturday where I participated in dodgeball. The rest of the events during the week I was able to go and watch and cheer on my friends. It was fun to watch and get pictures of everything going on. Luckily I did not have a large amount of schoolwork to do so I could focus on creating content and getting posts out for the Panhel Instagram.  Saturday came around which was Greek Olympics. We had to be at the Alpha Xi house at 9:00am but I went at 8:15am to get my hair braided. It was an early morning but everyone was getting excited for the day to come.
