A great refresh and now back to work

 


Spring break could not have come soon enough. By the time I made it into the last week before break I was exhausted and desperately needed time away from school. Once I finished my last class on Thursday it was a huge relief as I immediately got into my car to drive home. Although I had a two-hour drive home I was able to listen to my music and it was a very easy drive back. 

I returned to campus this past Sunday. At first I was excited to get back here but when I started to realize how much schoolwork and other obligations were already waiting for me I began to get overwhelmed all over again. But I made sure to just enjoy the rest of my Sunday and get settled back into my dorm. Once Monday morning hit I was up and headed to my 8 a.m. class to start off the first day back. I do not enjoy having an early morning class but I will say it has helped me get moving and feeling productive from start to finish of my Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. It was a struggle getting through that class just because I had not needed to wake up that early for an entire week but I got through it with the help of some caffeine. After my two early morning classes I have a large break until my 2 p.m. marketing class. I took that time to get all of my assignments and tasks I needed to do organized to see what I had to get done and which needed to get done first. Once I organized everything I found that it was manageable. I made sure to separate my time with what I needed to get done for school as well as things I had to get done for a couple of organizations I am in. By the time my 2 p.m. class rolled around I had a good portion of what I needed to get done complete. 

Sadly while I was working on the stuff I needed to get caught up on naturally there came a few more assignments that got added to my list with my classes that day. Sometimes it feels like a never-ending cycle of school work even when there was just a break. I am happy that as the year has gone on I have learned decent skills in organizing my time and being able to stay productive throughout the entire day. Now I just need to use that motivation for the rest of the semester and hopefully summer will be here before we know it!

    Hi McKenna! Your blog really encouraged me, especially because I struggle with time management. I am glad that you were able to relax during Spring break, and that going back to classes was not too hard! Keep up the hard work girl!

Galentine's Weekend!

 This past Saturday was Valentine's Day but I celebrated Galentine's Day instead. On Friday, Alpha Xi had a Galentine's Day party. This was such a great event where we had card making and a small gift game. There were snacks and little desserts that were delicious. So many girls were there so it was really nice to catch up with everyone all together and as always there were so many fun stories and laughs all night. Sometimes it is rare to find a time for all of us to be at the same place all at once. When so many of us were able to come to this it was exciting. Greek Week 2026

From the very first day of recruitment this past fall everyone I talked to involved in Greek Life mentioned Greek Week. The time has finally come and this entire week every day has an event that each chapter participates in. Then it all leads to the final day on Saturday which is Greek Olympics. On Monday it started off with Greek Sing. This is where each chapter performs a song and dance routine. The sororities go up against each other and the same for fraternities. I was nervous at first because it would be my first time ever performing at Greek Sing and also because our pledge class had our own section to perform and we had only realized the practice before some of the beats for our dance section were hard to hear. This means it would be very difficult to stay on our original timing. Luckily once we got out there we knew we just needed to do our best and have fun. Wrapping up my First Greek Week

My first Greek Week was a whirlwind to say the least. The entire week was full of events. I only participated in two events the entire week starting with Greek Sing at the beginning of the week and then at Greek Olympics on Saturday where I participated in dodgeball. The rest of the events during the week I was able to go and watch and cheer on my friends. It was fun to watch and get pictures of everything going on. Luckily I did not have a large amount of schoolwork to do so I could focus on creating content and getting posts out for the Panhel Instagram.  Saturday came around which was Greek Olympics. We had to be at the Alpha Xi house at 9:00am but I went at 8:15am to get my hair braided. It was an early morning but everyone was getting excited for the day to come.
