Xi Best Decision

 I never thought joining a sorority was what my college life would look like but, it has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made! When you think of a sorority or sorority girls you typically go straight to thinking about The University of Alabama where there are hundreds of members in each sorority. But here at ONU it is so different where I have close bonds with every girl! I am so grateful to have learned more about Greek Life, and I have been given so many opportunities and close friendships through the Greek community.

Alpha Xi Delta has been such an amazing sisterhood to be a part of! I came into it with the best pledge class where we all got super close over the numerous events we attended together. It was so nice having a big group of girls who were all going through the same process. Then, going into the sorority meeting so many amazing girls who already supported all of us so much! I knew and hoped that I would be close with a lot of the girls in the sorority eventually but, I can now say I am pleasantly surprised by how close I am with so many of them in only about one semester in Alpha Xi. Plus, all the fun memories I have made through fun events we have had. We have done fun sister events together such as painting tote bags, gone to yoga together, went on coffee dates and even had weekly Dancing with the Stars hangouts! All these fun memories have led me closer to so many of the girls. Plus, these fun memories and events have been such a great thing to take my mind off classes and schoolwork. It is so easy to get wrapped up or stressed out about schoolwork because it can feel overwhelming especially in the first semester as a freshman. Alpha Xi and all the fun memories have been such a nice way to just relax and enjoy college life aside from classes. 

Greek Life and Alpha Xi have given me so many opportunities as well. First, it has given me a great way to be involved on campus. The first thing anyone here at ONU tells you as an incoming freshman is to get involved on campus and in the community. Greek Life has given me a huge way to be involved because Alpha Xi has numerous events to sign up to work for on campus and the Greek community naturally gives you a way to meet so many new people from any different major or year. Recently, I just got voted to be the Vice President of Public Relations for the Panhellenic Council. This opportunity has been such a big gift. I would never have gotten this amazing opportunity if it wasn't for one of my close friends in Alpha Xi who was previously on the Panhellenic Council for recommending and informing me about the position. That example alone shows just how any of my sisters are willing to go the extra mile to give me those opportunities and will support any of us. Alpha Xi has truly been such an amazing gift in my life and am so grateful for it and everything it has already given me!
